How does the emergency call work?

After an accident, it’s not easy to get easy access to your phone. That’s why Liberty Rider and In&motion have developed a system that automatically triggers the emergency call when the airbag is inflated. Effective, reliable assistance.

How does the emergency call work ?

When the airbag is inflated, the “My In&box” application will automatically activate and start the 4-step alert procedure:

  • An alarm goes off on your phone: Liberty Rider’s alarm sounds for 2 minutes, to give you time to come to your senses and report your condition. On this screen, you can either say that everything is fine, or call 112 directly.
  • Liberty Rider is alerted: if you do not take any action during these 2 minutes, your location and all the necessary information will be sent to Inter Mutuelles Assistance, a dedicated organisation providing assistance to people in difficulty (IMA, available 24/7).
  • IMA will contact you 3 times: to ensure that the intervention is necessary and to obtain all the necessary information about the situation.
  • Intervention by the emergency services: If you are unable to respond or if you need help, the emergency services will intervene at the exact scene of the accident.

Who notifies your next of kin?

We never inform your loved ones of an accident. It’s up to the emergency services to decide whether or not to deal with it directly.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO SIMULATE AN ACCIDENT USING THE MY IN&BOX APPLICATION?

You can simulate an accident using the My In&box application to find out how the Emergency Call works.

Simply click on the “Emergency Call” tile on the application dashboard, then click on “Simulate an accident”.

  • The Liberty Rider alarm will sound for 2 minutes, giving you time to report your condition. On this screen, you can either say that everything is fine, or call 112 directly.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO SIMULATE AN ACCIDENT USING THE MY IN&BOX APPLICATION?

  • If you do not take any action during the 2-minute alarm period, Inter Mutuelles Assistance (IMA, available 24/7) will contact you 3 times. If you are unable to respond or if you need help, the emergency services will intervene at the exact scene of the accident.

REST ASSURED, NO REAL ALERTS WILL BE SENT DURING THIS TEST.

DO I NEED TO HAVE MY PHONE WITH ME FOR THE EMERGENCY CALL TO WORK?

With or without a mobile phone, the airbag will work.

However, the “emergency call” function will only work if you have your smartphone nearby (within five metres of the airbag).

DO I NEED TO OPEN THE MY IN&BOX APPLICATION BEFORE SETTING OFF?

No, because the In&motion system (the In&box) automatically connects to the My In&box application as soon as the In&box is switched on. If the alarm is triggered, it will wake up the application itself to send out the alert.

Make sure your application is connected to your In&motion user account.

CAN THE LIBERTY RIDER EMERGENCY CALL BE USED SIMULTANEOUSLY ON THE MY IN&BOX APPLICATION AND THE LIBERTY RIDER APPLICATION?

If both applications are active, then both can work in parallel. In the event of an accident, as the detection strategies are different, the alert could be launched by one or the other, or even both at the same time.

This is not a problem, since IMA will be able to manage this request and alert the emergency services only once.

CAN I RUN A GPS APPLICATION ON MY PHONE WHILE USING THIS FEATURE?

Yes, you can use a GPS application on your phone at the same time as using the Liberty Rider emergency call via the My In&box application.

However, this is not compulsory, as your GPS position is recorded by the In&box on the back of your airbag waistcoat. If the GPS on your In&box is not activated, the alert will be launched and the last GPS position recorded will be transferred. You can contact 112 directly via your phone screen.

DOES THE “EMERGENCY CALL” FUNCTION CONSUME A LOT OF BATTERY POWER?

Battery consumption is optimised so that the application only consumes power when the airbag inflates, i.e. when the alert is triggered.

However, it is advisable not to have too low a battery.

We also recommend that you do not put your phone in power-saving mode, as this could affect the emergency call.

WILL THE ALARM SOUND EVEN IF I’M IN SILENT MODE?

Even if you are in silent mode, the Liberty Rider emergency call alarm will take over and sound for 2 minutes before alerting the IMA.

DOES THE EMERGENCY CALL WORK IN TRACK MODE?

No, the emergency call is directly deactivated in track mode. The mobile application will indicate “Incompatible mode“.

DOES THE EMERGENCY CALL WORK IN TRACK MODE?

WILL THE EMERGENCY CALL WORK IF MY PHONE IS TOO FAR AWAY FROM MY AIRBAG WAISTCOAT?

The In&box (inserted in the back of the airbag waistcoat) and the My In&box application are connected by Bluetooth, so the phone must not be too far from the airbag system for the alert to be launched correctly (ideally the phone should be less than five metres from the airbag).

CAN I USE AN INTERCOM WHILE USING THE EMERGENCY CALL?

You can use a connected Bluetooth intercom (music, calls, etc.). In the event of an accident and when the airbag is inflated, the alert will be launched and the alarm will sound on the intercom’s standard audio output.
